A Job Offer?
I've been watching a lot of RuPaul's Drag Race recently so please know exactly what's running through my head when it's just the phrase 'really, queen?'.
So they want a response by Sunday the 22nd, but I'm going to email them back and ask for an extension, because at this point, I really want to see my options before jumping the gun on a hiring decision. However, if I do take this position, my contract year will be September 2018-2019.
Is it odd how excited I'm getting for this? Now I just have to ditch the house and I'll be ready to go!
Well, this is exactly how I felt today when I checked my email and saw a job offer sitting in there. I haven't even started my TEFL class yet and y'all are stressing me out about accepting job offers? Anyway, it seems rather legitimate. I'll be making more money than I am now (which isn't much, but is better than nothing), I'll get a housing allowance, and bonuses based on performance.
But it's nerve-wracking to think about accepting a position when you've never seen the building, never met the staff, and don't know exactly what you're signing up for. So queue my gut wrenched stomach not doing too well after my well-rounded dinner of Honey Nut Cheerios.
So this job offer is for a teaching position (teaching English - let's just clear that up now. Apparently the 10 year olds already know calculus, so my knowledge there will be parallel to the small humans. ;) ) in HeFei, China.
HeFei literally translates to 'confluence of the Fei rivers' and is located about 1000km south from Beijing, 500km west of Shanghai, and 1000km north of Hong Kong. (And you better get ready because I love the metric system so from here on out it's all kilometers and Celsius!)
In reality, this is pretty great because I'm about a two hour flight from any metro city I'd want to go to and HeFei has an airport.
Is it odd how excited I'm getting for this? Now I just have to ditch the house and I'll be ready to go!
